Bridge fishing is a very ignored method. Many people who don't have boats go to the piers or go to the beach to fish. That works but a great way to add some diversity to the fish you catch is to fish a bridge. Their is two ways to fish a bridge, one is fishing off of the top of the bridge and the other is to fish under the bridge. Both are successful but i prefer fishing under the bridge. This is where the bridge meets the land. Usually there is some space where you can cast to the bridge supports. Where as on top of the bridge it will be a bit difficult to land a big fish unless you don't mind walking all the way back down the bridge to land the fish. But i have found that the supports that hold up the bridge have a vast amount of fish sitting all along them. One species i think is great to target is the Gag Grouper. This is a fighting fish that mostly is hard to target without a boat. But they will hold around these supports. My best friend and I first caught some large pinfish and cut them up. Then we would toss them out with a weight next to the supports. My friend caught a nice gag grouper, about 7lbs. Other baits that serve well are shrimp and live threadfins. Also you have the chance of catchings tons of other fish like snook, tarpon, mangrove snapper, catfish, and other varieties of fishing. Their are many ways to target the fish. Depending on what kind of fish your targeting a 6.5 or 7 foot spinning out fit medium heavy with 14 pound monofillament or braid should work well. But if you get a big one loosen up the drag. Good luck and catch a big one.
