So I have been looking for a new rod to throw a heavy duty conventional reel on for shark, tarpon, big fish, etc. I came across the ugly stick which I've always been skeptical about. I have heard nothing but good reviews about these rods but they are so cheap i don't know to believe if they are good or not. So I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with any type of ugly stik. If you do then please leave a comment on what you think of them and what fish you have caught on them. Thanks in advance.

Hello Pierce - I have dropped by your blog a couple of times now and finally want to take a moment to leave a comment. I am an Ugly Stik fan. I have used a regular Ugly Stik and now Ugly Stik Lite's for trout and smallmouth bass, perch, bluegill, and the occasional largemouth bass. Don't let the price fool you! They are a great rod for the money and extremely durable. They do tend to weigh more than the more expensive graphite rods, but, cast well and will hold their own with a big fish on board. I have never fished for saltwater fish so I am no good as far as advice goes there. I assume that a big Ugly Stik has surely done battle with some of the big fish of the sea.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am adding your link to my blogroll over on Idaho Fishing Notebook. Would you be interested in sharing a link with me?
of course i will thankyou for the great commment.
ReplyDeleteHello Pierce - I have to agree with Mel. I have 3 Ugly Stiks. I wouldn't fish with anything else. Well, I can't really say that because I have one Diawa I've had for a gazillion years. The reason I bought my Ugly Stiks, is they guarantee you can't break them. I'm not an easy person with fishing rods and I've yet to break one. I lived in Florida for 8 years and have fished for Shark, Tarpon, and others and I'm sure, if you try one, you'll love it.
ReplyDeleteWell thanks i apreciate the comment. You and mel have definitly urged me to look into a new rod or to. Thankyou for you comments they are very beneficial to me.
