Kayaking is a great outdoor activity to pursue for recreation, sport, or Exercise. Personally I'm going to start spearfishing off of my kayak. I just purchased a 7 foot pole spear with a paralyzer tip. I'm a big time noob to spearfishing but I'm very interested. Right now i have access to a kayak so i cant go 5 miles offshore but i am looking for some inshore spots. I live near Tampa bay so i have beach access. I'm hoping to find a reef that i can go out to and gets some fish. Right now I'm looking to spear fish like sheepshead, Grouper or other reef fish. My only problem is the bad visibility that is notorious in the gulf. I have heard of the Sugar barge located in Anna maria but I've heard the visibility is bad and that bull sharks are present. I know sharks are a factor but I'm not letting that distract me. So if anyone is skilled in spearfishing and knows inshore spots in my area i could use your help on finding some good spots.
